Nikhil Kumar
Nikhil Kumar is the Executive Editor at TIME, where he oversees coverage across key editorial areas including climate, health, technology, and ideas, while also contributing to the magazine’s overall editorial strategy.
He rejoined TIME in January 2025 after eight years reporting across Asia for CNN and helping launch the Washington, D.C.–based news analysis startup Grid. Earlier in his career, Nikhil served as TIME’s Deputy International Editor in New York, overseeing global coverage, and as the magazine’s South Asia Bureau Chief — a region he later continued to cover for CNN.
Over the course of his career, Nikhil has reported on major political, economic, and social events around the world, including the Eurozone debt crisis, the Rohingya refugee crisis, the war in Afghanistan, and the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka — coverage that earned him an Emmy nomination.
