Yang Lan is one of China’s most influential media figures, a leading broadcast journalist, and Chairperson of Sun Media Group. She has received numerous honors, including Columbia University SIPA’s Global Leadership Award, the National Philanthropy Award, and repeated recognition by Forbes as one of the world’s 100 most powerful women. Her signature interview program Yang Lan One on One has featured more than 1,200 global movers and shapers, while her women-focused Her Village Media and Education Group reaches tens of millions with content on empowerment and gender equality.
Beyond media, Yang Lan has played key national and global roles: she is the only person to have represented Beijing twice in successful Olympic bids, has served as vice-chairman of the China Charity Alliance, Goodwill Ambassador for the 2010 Shanghai Expo, and Global Ambassador and International Board Member for Special Olympics.
