Mpindi Abaas is an award-winning journalist, entrepreneur, and youth leader dedicated to shaping the future of media in Africa. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of the Media Challenge Initiative (MCI), a youth-led non-profit training the next generation of journalists across Uganda and the continent.
Through MCI, Abaas leads two flagship programs: the MCI Media Hub, which incubates journalism innovations, and Switch Africa, a social and apprenticeship-driven newsroom empowering young storytellers to create solutions-focused journalism.

Abaas’s leadership has earned global recognition, including the Elevate Prize (2024), Africa Visionary Fellowship (2023), and honors as an Obama Foundation Leader (2018) and Tony Elumelu Entrepreneur. His work has been featured by CNN Africa, Huffington Post, JAMLAB, and DW Akademie, and in 2018, he was personally recognized by President Barack Obama for his leadership in advancing youth-driven storytelling.

At BRIDGE Summit, Abaas will share how mentoring thousands of young journalists and using storytelling to hold power to account can create change across Africa.
