Shawn Layden is the former Chairman of PlayStation Worldwide Studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), where he led the company’s global first-party content strategy and played a key role in the launch of multiple generations of PlayStation consoles. He also founded PlayStation Productions in Culver City to adapt PlayStation’s iconic game franchises for film and television.
Before serving as Chairman, Layden was CEO of SIE America, overseeing the PlayStation business across the Americas. Earlier in his 32-year career with Sony, he held leadership roles as President of SIE Japan and Vice President of International Software Development at SIE Europe. His tenure began in Tokyo, where he served as personal assistant to Sony co-founder Akio Morita.
Layden now advises several technology startups in game-adjacent fields and is a founding board member of the Girls Make Games Scholarship Fund. He holds a BA in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame.
