Chantal Saliba Abikhalil currently presents the daily two-hour Newsroom show on Sky News Arabia, which she joined in October 2014. Over the years, she has become one of the channel’s most prominent anchors, known for her insightful coverage of major global events and interviews with high-profile figures.
From 2021 to 2024, Chantal hosted The Planet, a program dedicated to climate change, during which she reported on pivotal international events such as COP26 in Glasgow, COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, and COP28 in Dubai. Her work included interviews with influential global leaders, including John Kerry, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate; Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General; Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation; UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi; and Laurent Fabius, former Prime Minister of France.
In 2024, Chantal covered the Arab League Summit in Bahrain and reported extensively on the U.S. elections. Her coverage included a 15-day journey across six swing states, culminating in Washington, D.C., where she analyzed the electoral process and its outcomes.
Following the U.S. elections, Chantal traveled to Syria for 16 days, from December 29, 2024, to cover the new political landscape after the fall of Bashar al-Assad. She hosted a special live, hour-long debate every day from Damascus, providing in-depth analysis and interviews on the evolving situation. Her reporting included an exclusive interview with Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri, the spiritual leader of the Druze community in Syria.
Earlier in her career, Chantal covered the Munich Security Conference in 2019, interviewing notable figures such as Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and Ghassan Salame, then Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya. In 2018, she reported on the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in London and Windsor, an event followed by millions worldwide.
Chantal is also an experienced moderator, having facilitated discussions at prestigious forums such as the World Economic Forum (2019), Abu Dhabi Ideas Weekend, the Special Olympics World Games (2019), and numerous initiatives by the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon.
From 2016 to 2019, she presented The Nineth, a daily one-hour program on Sky News Arabia covering global politics, medicine, technology, and sports, featuring exclusive interviews with high-profile guests.
Before joining Sky News Arabia, Chantal worked at MTV Lebanon as a news anchor and was a producer and presenter of From Day to Day on Heya TV, a live program focusing on social and cultural issues.
Her humanitarian work includes teaching homeless children with World Vision and serving as Assistant Director for the Campus of Human Science at Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
Chantal holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Science from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
