The Rt Hon Sir Oliver Dowden MP

The Rt Hon Sir Oliver Dowden KCB CBE MP is the former Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
 
Sir Oliver has spent over 20 years spent working at the top of the UK government including as Cabinet Minister responsible for technology and culture, and senior adviser to four Prime Ministers.
 
He has unparalleled experience of driving decision-making across government and industry with unique insight into emergent tech, economic security, international investment and life sciences.
 
He enjoys extensive relationships with industry, investors and governments across the UK, Gulf, US and Asia. He has represented Prime Minister at UN General Assembly, Security Council and bilaterally at Head of Government and CEO level.
 
Sir Oliver has recently re-launched the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the UAE and was elected its Chairman. He is also Chairman of Conservative Friends of India and remains the Member of Parliament for Hertsmere. 
 
In addition, he works as a senior adviser providing strategic counsel to Caxton, the global macro hedge fund and Francisco Partners, the leading technology investment firm.
 
Previous roles include Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Chairman of the Conservative Party, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Secretary of State in the Cabinet Office 
 
Sir Oliver was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2015 in recognition of his work for then Prime Minister David Cameron as his Deputy Chief of Staff. In 2024 he was made a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath in recognition of his public and political service. Sir Oliver read law Cambridge University.
