Joseph Oughourlian is the founder of Amber Capital, an investment firm he established in New York in 2005 after a successful career in proprietary trading and finance at Société Générale. He created the first Amber Fund in 2001 with seed capital from the bank and has since developed Amber Capital into a respected player in global markets.
Joseph began his career at Société Générale in Paris in 1994 before moving to New York in 1996 and transitioning into proprietary trading in 1997. He is a graduate of HEC Business School and Sciences Po in Paris and holds an MSc in Economics from the Sorbonne. He currently sits on the boards of several companies and has been deeply involved with PRISA, Spain’s leading media group, joining its board in 2015, becoming Vice Chairman in 2019, and Chairman in 2020.
